Would use the search facility but its not working, so;

Thinking of buying a 6 month old 5.0XFR, the idea of averaging less MPG than my F430 is weird, are they really that bad, I know they will maybe do 30mpg at 70 mph but what kind of 'real average' are people seeing in these, sorry if its a regular Question but never thought of one of these before... Thanks.

It all depends on what you mean by regular, everyones driving is different. Our XKR 5.0 S/C averages around 21MPG, the XF SV8 19 MPG. I would have thought somewhere between the two.

Around 22 mpg overall for me
Maybe up to 26mpg for longish motorway trips and 16mpg if lots of town driving

The 5ltr is supposed to be more fuel efficient than the 4.2, if my 430 is anything to go by it's highly unlikely the XFR will get worse milage smile My 4.2 is certainly better than the 430.

My 5.0 XKR claims to have averaged just over 21 MPG over 5,000 miles, but I keep fuel records (there's an app for that) and it's really 19.27 MPG, so I wouldn't trust the car to tell the truth smile I'm surprised to hear people are bettering this with the heavier XFR though.

It is so dependent on the driving you do. When the "office" moved my average went from 18 to over 20, according to the trip computer.

Real world manually calculated I get 17 mpg, weekdays only (used to commute only) little motorway use, padals used all the time to eliminate the useless gearbox.

Make sure the steering wheel is at 12 noon when going straight if its not they cant fix it. (as yet)

My wife and I have 'his' and 'hers' Bugatti Veyrons that we keep in a secure personalised facility at the airport so we can just 'jump in and drive' when we fly in in our private jet.

I am worried though because, in the Veyrons, we are only averaging 8.5 MPG whereas I was sure we'd see at least 10MPG.

Nightmare. I might have to chop them in for a pair of Daewoo Matiz's...

Shouldn't the plural be Veyrii and Matii?

If you're going to take the piss, think it through!

I think that's pretty good. My 540i BMW, with a 4.4l V8 only averages 23.7mpg. To get the same with a lot more power is good going.
