i currently have no car, i was looking to spend around 10k on a 2 seater, but im stuggling to find anything i really want.
i only do 4-6k a year. but still want something that wont break down on me.
this has just caught my eye and its only round the corner

the price range of these things seems to be all over the place, anything from 5k to 17k!!! (5 year difference)

The Alpina B10 gains the extra power from modifying a standard BMW engine. The M5 has a much more highly strung and highly tuned engine with individual throttle bodies. It's a different beast altogther. As a result servicing an Alpina engine costs no more than a standard 5 series V8, however an M5 engine is a lot more expensive to look after.Also most Alpinas have auto boxes. M5s are all manuals (excpet the lastest one IIRC)

But still a very understressed unit.It's possible to eke a lot more BHP out of the M5 engine without unduly stressing it.
It could be argued that the Alpina mods apply more stress to the standard M60/M62 engine.
By the way - the Autotrader advert for the Alpina is incorrect "More powerful than an M5"
Nope.
The M5 has 400 BHP the Alpina has 347 BHP.....

There is history of it starting on Ebay in October last year at £11995, then a few price drops till a final £7400, whereupon it disappeared, presumably sold at somewhere around that figure. Then it reappeared on Ebay and sold a couple of months ago for "no more than £5k". i only do 4-6k a year. but still want something that wont break down on me.

The previous owner (who sold it 6 months prior to it being put on Fleabay) is on the register and offers to respond to any pm's. But you can do the sums
