hi guys, im trying to get my head round the clunk from my brakes when i steer from lock to lock, is the cause worn out slider pins, im not quite sure what else can wear out. in the past ive packed out the brake pads with extra shims this has worked for a time, ive swapped brake carriers abit second hand, does the actual brake calliper wear out so the pads move about? i have'nt a clue your help would be greatly appreciated the car is a mk 1 enuos roadster 1.6 on a k plate. thanks.

Could you give more of a description of the clunk? Is it just at full lock? Only when actually braking?

the clank or clunk only happens when steering lock to lock in a slow speed manœuvre not when braking which leads me to suspect the slider pins, but im not sure. let me know what you think thanks.

That's not the brakes (though I can understand why you say that), it's the power steering rack fighting back. They often don't like being on full lock, especially if the tyres are nearing the end of their lives.
My bet is that it's worse on full lock in reverse wink

ETA: It's nothing to worry about and I'm not sure how you'd fix it if you wanted to. A lot of them do it though and it doesn't cause a problem. Just try not to hold it on full lock any longer than you really have to.
