Russian subs stalk Trident
Discussion
I see the Russians are reported to be stalking Trident Vanguard submarines. I wonder how this all may play out?
Hopefully not another "accident", but this is surely quite worrying according to the telegraph.

Of course Nimrod would have been very handy as being able to cover and re-cover a large area.
It would have been able to pinpoint the ruski sub..........but they have been disposed of on a politicians whim.

Nothing new - been going on for years.
FOSM claims that they've never tracked and sound profiled one of our SSBNs, which is an impressive claim.
We'll tell how close to losing the V replacement we are when he comes out with the statement that they've finally tracked one
Typically though the Russian boats tend to be quite noisy compared to their western equivalents, as their design philosophy was different to that in the west - favouring speed, manoeuvrability and diving depth over stealth. Also their sound attenuation tech isn't as good, nor are the crews as well trained.
