We've been trying to sell our 83k E60 530D for a while now and have resorted to trying to part exchange it towards an E53 X5, but even the dealers won't take it as it has cloth interior and the biggest problem....a manual geargox.

Is it such a bad thing? You get 10-15% better fuel economy and it's in the lower tax band, so should theoretically save you £200ish a year.

Just shocked me how difficult it is to shift, if a dealer won't even offer money for it....

Leather and auto are two essential features for a 5 series as far as I am concerned.

However, there is a buyer for every car so keep trying.

As others have said, most buyers tend to look for Auto/leather/sport combos.

You have buyers out there looking for your car, just less of them - you may just have to wait a bit longer than the average for the phone to ring.

Many thanks guys.

When things were looking very glum, out the woodwork popped the only guy who had seen it! He had an accord to sell and seen the car about 6 weeks ago. Never heard from him since really and he texts me out the blue and wishes to buy the car straight out at 8.5k. I was heading does South the next day for a couple days and needed to do the deal before i went....not a problem. An hour later and i was counting the cash :-).

Now to find a good deal on a facelift X5. :-D
