Hi, thinking of upgrading my alloys on my e34.

Have my heart set on style 32's off an e38 ( loving the staggered rears wink )!

Only problem is what size tyre to fit, specs only go up to 17" on the drivers door sill. I know I won't need spacers as the offset is correct. Also to throw a spanner in the works I'am thinking of dropping her about 40mm and this may have an affect on the range of tyres I could fit.

I was thinking along the lines of 235/45 on the front and 255/40 on the rear (about an 1" bigger RR than standard)

Anyone who has fitted style 32's on their P+J who could offer advice, greatly welcomed.

Cheers

Not too sure on the tyre sizes, but whatever you do make sure you get the spigot ring adapters
as the e34 has a center bore size of 72.5mm and the e38 has a bore size of 74.1mm IIRC
without these it'll give you real problems, most Wheel/tyre outfits are aware of this issue
and you can get them of ebay even..

E34 and E38 are same centre bore, it's the E39 that has the larger centre bore. I've just stuck E38 BBS's on my E24 and E34 15" BBS on my E28....they all fit fine. My E34 525iX runs 235/55/16 at the moment and still a bit of space left, though be carefull with lower profile (such as 40's)tyres as the shoulder tends to be more squared off and may catch.

E34 M5 with 18's ran 245/40 18's with an offset of 20 front on 8J & 22 Rear on 9J rims (Style 37 M Parellel's)

a set of E38 Style 32's will give identical offsets & rim widths (E39's are eith 24 or 26 offset on the rears) so sounds like the way to go as you also do not have to worry about hubcentric rings

I always thought that the e32 and e34 shared wheel dimensions
and the e38 and e39 shared dimensions.

You live and learn... it's now in the databank

Yeh, the e39's bit of an oddball from about mid 70's onwards pretty much all BMW's have 72.5 hubs except the e39! confused
