Forthcoming 'fashionable' cars

My little sis has just qualified as a Doctor and is currently driving her trusty old 53 plate Punto 1.2.
However, with the qualification comes a new job, and with said new job, a decent starting salary. She's 24, living with her boyfriend, and they've got no kids.
She's in the market for a new car in the next 6-12 months when she's started to reduce the student loan dent - and is today going to a preview event for the Audi A1.
I've read mixed reviews about the car and have told her this but i think it's right up her street to be honest - but just wondering is there anything else out or due out that might be worth a look over the next 12 months.
She's mentioned the Citroen DS3 also.
Obviously no kids means no issues with it being a 3 door but she'd prefer 4 seats min rather than an MX5 or similar as occassionally does take our kids/grandparent/friends out with her. Also, her other half has his own electrical contracting business and is currently just using a van so needs to be the household car.
Diesel not a mega necessity as shes only approx 20 miles from work but certainly worth consideration.
She likes the Fiat 500 but they've dropped a bit 2nd hand wise and i think she wants something posey that not many others have got just yet.
Don't want to make her sounds flashy, but she's got money in her pocket for the first time and isn't committed with kids so why not!

My Mrs who qualified a couple of years ago is running around in an R107 Mercedes 280SL. Its pretty much depreciation proof, not too bad on fuel and cheap-ish to maintain with the right specialist. I prefer the previous model, but she likes it and so do a lot of other girly Doc's - might be worth considering.
