HI has anybody out there heard of anybody fitting a supercharger to the 2.9 12v v6 engine i know back in the day Sprintex used to do a kit. I have just returned from a 1700 mile french trip and the car was great, the french seem to love british sports cars. But i have come to the conclusion the car needs more power and its either 24v convertion which is very involved , or slap a supercharger on the 12v engine ( i know its not quite this simple ). Has anybody done this convertion im looking at 230-250 bhp any ideas would be well recieved. VIVE LA TVR!!!

I have seen a thread on here some time ago which had a supercharger fitted. I dont think it was that hard (some mods to body to fit the supercharger etc).
I think the biggest problem is getting the supercharger speed correct but I am no expert on this.
Have you tried a search on previous threads?

I remember the 2 litre supercharged S but I think this was before that discussion about an S someone had added a supercharger to.

You could use a turbo or 2. My friends engine has over 500 hp using 2 GT28's but that's on low compression. He has a whiff of Nos to. Even with stock compression and a single turbo you could approach 300 hp with about 7-9 psi boost.

A 24v will make 300 hp from 7 psi and also head north of 500 but the high figures always cost more. Your main consideration should be the ecu you'll need to manage things. DTA and Emerald are popular on these engines.

Yes, I've looked in to it and can't justify the cost myself. You'd have to get a custom plenum made. Also a way of mounting it. Plus the correct pulley system and of course the ECU and mapping/rolling road time to get it set up.

I would go 24v route if I wanted more power in a V6 S. Better fuel consumption, and there is more potential. But there is some good priced V8S in the classifieds yes

I like the 24v route but its the thought of having to have two new manifolds made, and the electrics scare the living daylights out of me. I cannot get rid of the car i love it to much but i want more POWER!!!!

how about a different v6?

Morgan are using a Ford V6 longitudinally are they not?

of course you've got to fabricate the chassis mounts and make the gearbox / get gearbox to fit, but that might be cheaper than bespoke supercharger work.

that's a nice engine but I would imagine it's way too wide for a v6 chassis.

Jag or ford v6 dutatech could work but unless you get the 240bhp version there is not much to justify over a bolt in cosworth 24v. Although it is a fair bit lighter than the colonge because of it's alloy block. Water pump is an issue though. One of the mt75 gearbox variants bolts up iirc not sure which one though.

Nissan 350z 280bhp engine gearbox and diff would we a cool combination if it would fit but it's also probably too wide.

What happened to the lexus v8 conversion that was underway? Can't recall who was doing that one.
