Just purchased a 1998 MX5 unos, the passenger window rubber seal has a problem.
It. all distorted and sticking out at the top of the window where it meets the quarter light.
I don't know if this is repairable or not, I've tried to reform it but it's beyond me.
Is there a repair piece you can buy?
Any advise please?
Steve.

Welcome to PH! byebye (That's a hello wave!)

This was discussed earlier this week if it helps,

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

Concensus of opinion was £70 at MX5 parts: http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/ (Or some serious gaffer tape!)

Nice looking MK1 by the way!

Also as you're local, don't forget to wave to a Stoke based MK1 smile

Yeah, it's ruined.[/partridge]

You need a new n/s door seal for a Mk.1 - new about £80 from Autolink or MX5parts - but both autolink and ebay have second hand n/s ones for 20-30 quid. Still waiting for an o/s one to turn up frown

Thanx both for your replies, I've been very lucky and found a secondhand door seal on ebay £15
I hope it's ok, but at that price couldn't refuse it.
And yep if I see a stokey MX5 I'll give you a wave.
Steve.

nice cuppa tea, this is the ebayer who I got mine from eBay My World: whatyergot( 2856)
He may well have the drivers side, ask him as it's not listed on ebay but he has got 2 doors on ebay both stripped bare.

Fitted mine today, was a bugger getting it down inside the door to the bottom of the window guide.
I did manage it with the aid of washing up liquid, pushing it as far as it would go with window down then window up managed to grab the end inside the door and by pulling and lowering the window at the same time it slid into position.

Hope you get one as cheply as I did.

And while the door card was off I fixed the central locking, the actuating rod had just pulled out of it's fixing, dead easy.

I've actually been in touch with him already! The driver's side one was shot so waiting for another - hopefully before it rains!

Thanks.
