My Eunos just finished on ebay, topping the reserve by a huge 20 quid!!! (£1020 can't be bad for a tidy Eunos with a years ticket can it!!!)
Anyway i've just checked out the winning bidder....
1) He (nor anybody else) has been to view the car, despite me being more than accomadating.
2) He has been a member of ebay since err...today...ergo no feedback
3) He lives in London and the tax is up on tuesday, obviousley made no contact to get it renewed etc.
I've just emailed asking him to phone me ASAP....
Where do we see this going....
Who bids on something without viewing though? if it was a £200 snotter then fair enough but 1k is a little more serious. I know i'd never bid blind for 1k+

EErrrm, Me actually. Sold a few too.
I bid on a few cars on ebay. Granted Ive viewed a few prior to bidding, but my 2003 Almera 2.2 Diesel with 70k on, I just bought on ebay for £2450 I did off the strength of the advert, and contact with the seller. As it turned out it was sold by a dealer on behalf of the owners wife as the owner sadly died after being ran over on a night out. His wifey decided to get rid to stop the memory's!
The advert had lots of really large pics aswell as a good description. All boxes were filled in too. You find people hiding stuff may miss certain info off the advert, such as service history and milage.
If it was not as described in any way I would refuse to do the deal, that is your right as a buyer.

This is always a problem with ebay, especially people with no feedback. I know deep in the settings of ebay (Might only be if you are a seller pro), you can stipulate a minimum feedback score for the winning bidder.
Personally if you cannot get hold of him you can open a dispute, ebay will try and contact the buyer and try and get payment (you have to give them at least 4days to pay), if they cant get payment you will have your Final value fees returned. You can then either try a 2nd chance offer, relist the item or request a credit for the listing fees.
If you relist the item id put it as buy it now with make me an offer, with the lowest value of the "make me an offer" your reserve. I think this is the cheapest way to list a car on ebay.

You're jumping the gun somewhat - its been half an hour since the auction ended! Also you could have ticked the options to prevent zero feedback or brand new accounts bidding on the auction.
Even then, I've sold a few cars / bikes on ebay to zero feedback bidders and so far none of them have failed to complete the transaction.

I didn't want to say it in the OP for fear of a flaming....but in all seriousness, yes.So... keep your fingers crossed!
...or if no contact in 24hrs, it's re-list Monday by the looks of it.

Just bad luck with ebay recently i guess. I've bought and sold quite a few cars on ebay ove rthe years but when i tried to sell my 928 it was a complete nightmare, just messer after messer.Even then, I've sold a few cars / bikes on ebay to zero feedback bidders and so far none of them have failed to complete the transaction.

contact with the seller.
Fair point but as i said he hasn't made any contact.
I always have.I actually reported one once.
It was a BMW 328 Coupe priced just over £3000, I rang and a girl claiming to be spanish said it was her old car she was selling as she needed a 4 door which she had already bought. it had 50k miles on.
When I looked at her feedback on ebay it turned out she had bought the car a few months ago for £1000 with a blown engine. The car had 120000 miles on.
There was even evidence of them buying an engine too, but no mention at all about this being fitted on the advert.
Ebay removed her listing.
"sold" a range rover on eBay earlier in the week, nice big note on the listing telling bidders to contact me of pay a deposit via eBay within 24 hours of auction close "winning" bidder didn’t respond to any emails, so after 2 days, agreed to sell it to the next highest bidder . . . . . . . only to have the "winning" bidder call me up pissed as a fart and speaking something that didn’t come near English (neither pissed nor sober versions) at 10.30pm on Friday night wanting to negotiate the price and arrange collection, he wasn’t a very happy chap when he found it the car had been sold as he hadn’t been in touch

there's no option to prevent zero feedback bidders, all you can prevent is people on -1 or lower. If users could avoid zero feedback people, newbies wouldn't be able to buy anything. Once you have an item completed with someone, you can request their details though, and get their phone number. But best give them reasonable time to get in touch first.
could you not have cancelled his bid?
Most people put things along the line of 'anyone with less then x-feedback will have their bid cancelled, unless you call me' etc..
maybe you should strictly stipulated, that the tax runs out tuesday, and that if you cannot write the new name on the v5 slip by then, not to bid.

I "sold" my 323i Convertible a fortnight ago. I'd put in the listing, very clearly, that I wanted a £250 deposit within 24 hours of the end.
Had a guy bidding on it all the way through - 100+ 100% feedback. Eventually won it for £3200.
24 hours later (and a bit of detective work) I found the PH advert for his car and rang him. He sounded surprised to hear from me, and said he was waiting on news of his loan coming through. He then started asking all the types of questions he should have asked before he bid. I could tell he was a cock but I gave him the benefit of doubt until the following day when I received a text...
"Really sorry to mess u about but I can't buy the car cos I can't get the money in time. Again really sorry."

.
It has just "sold" again (literally 15 minutes ago) to another 100+ 100% feedback bidder so we'll see what happens with this one.
Until eBay pull their cocks out of their ears and reinstate negative feedback for buyers it'll keep happening hundreds of times a week.

1) Chances are he knows that if its not as you've described it, he doesnt have to take it
2) He may have joined ebay after seeing your car and just to bid on it.
3) He may be going to chance the tax on the way home?
