Help - It won't start.....

Its been layed up for about 4 weeks due o summer holidays and god awful weather (ahh - the wonderful british summer).

The fuel pump primes and the starter motor cranks as normal but it won't start. I have checked the fuse box so no obvious ignition related problems in this area.

I have tested the main lead from the ignition coil to the distributor several times and it varies between no spark and a weak spark. I have tried a replacement coil and no change.

Clearly there is a problem but before i start trial and error replacement with anything else i would welcome any other suggestions from those in the know...

Next stop is the ignition module. Can this be tested without buying a replacement?

Sounds like the ignition amplifier has packed in.

this is driving me nuts now.....

I have replaced both coil and amplifier module now and no change!

I may have to resort to calling in the professionals. Anybody have another suggestion before i make the call.

Had same problem a few years back on my griff.It would turn over ok but would'nt fire.Connected a booster to battery and it fired up.My conclusion was the engine was'nt turning over quick enough.One new battery later and not missed a startup since.Just be a little careful as these engines flood easily if turned over for a while without starting.Good luck.

Might be worth checking the low tension wires, especially around the spade connectors.

You've changed the obvious things.
