hehe Didn't read too much beyond zombies and WMD simulation. Which sounds a bit like being arrested for stuffing socks down your pants.

Funny, but a good story.

It's about fking time that the police state that is the US is bought to book on something. The UK is getting almost as bad. Arrested for "terrorism" then released without charge, it's not right, it's heavy handed tactics that, were they used on me, would be the catalyst to me sueing for wrongful detention (or whatever the legal term is!)

I'm amazed that in the US a copper can yell at any random member of the public to get on their belly on the ground and non-compliance can see them pepper sprayed and tackled to the floor! That should be the treatment reserved for the most violent of offenders, who have been proven or witrnessed to have committed a serious crime.

Here recently, an older gentleman (who was a bit of a toerag, but definitely not wanted for anything serious) was dragged through his car window when he drove off from the police. There was no chance of him getting away, the car was not reported stolen, he wasn't speeding and was known to the police so his identity wasn't in question. Yet his "crimes" were defined as so serious as to allow coppers to jump all over his car kicking the windows in! Unless there was a serious risk of his hurting someone or absconding, he should have been followed home where he could have been dealt with in a non violent fashion.

UK coppers frequently act like they are beyond the law, I've also heard it said of some American cops. The more that are bought up in front of their peers to explain why they act like a bully the better!

hehe

It is a bit rich though

article said:
They were walking in a stiff, lurching fashion and carrying four bags of sound equipment to amplify music from an iPod when they were arrested by police who said they were carrying equipment that simulated "weapons of mass destruction."
Sounds like the Occifer in question just didn't like what they were doing so used the most wide ranging power they could to arrest them, much like the anti terror laws over here have been used for ultimately frivolous things.

We'll have to agree to differ, if he did indeed play the terrorism card to arrest these guys then its a little bit beyond the pale if they weren't causing anyone any harm. Judging by the article the Judges seemed to see it that way too smile

Yes, but, in the real world, the correct procedure for people such as this is summary execution...

That's right....

We can't have people just doing what they like..... Authority & control has to be maintained at all cost....How else can we keep the country freeroflrofl
If you can't tell the difference between freedom of expression, etc. versus public disruption, and without a permit, then that is your problem.

Honestly, I would agree as well. However, to have a bunch of twits doing this to protest "mindless consumerism" is a stupid enough reason in itself.

Meh if they want to make idiots of themselves let them, even if its just to laugh at their self righteousness that will wear off within 5 years.

If you're not a rebel at 20 you have no heart, if you're not establishment by 30 you have no brain. Or something like that.

My pre-conceieved predjudices about Yanks are confirmed on a daily basis.... So Thanks for thatthumbup
Your attempts at being witty are falling miserably short; stop embarrasing yourself. Permits for rallies, organized protests, etc. are required in most metropolitan areas, has been for about a century now. They are never denied unless the situation would be such that the police cannot gurantee safety, etc.
My pre-conceived prejudices about some Englishmen being pompous a$$es are gaining traction as well. Good job.

Yes, it does according to that community's local ordinances.
I am glad you have a high opinion of yourself, puts you in a wonderful light.
As to your nationality, I am certain that Englishmen everywhere are relieved you are of another "breed".
