The clutch pedal on my SC started to feel a bit strange about a week ago and I assumed it was the helper spring on the pedal box. It was a bit distorted when I bought the car and was catching on the rod that transmits the throttle position to the centre of the car.

I removed the spring and put one on back order.

Whilst waiting I drove the car a couple of times (the clutch was heavy as the helper spring was removed) but I soon realised that the bite point was getting lower and lower.

The new spring arrived and I went to fit it today (hoping for a miracle cure!) but now joy. Not only that the new one rubs on the pedal also!

Anyway I realised that I need to investigate further so jacked up the rear and check the clutch lever, omega spring etc under the gearbox. All looks fine so I went back to the pedal end.

The pedal is now much lower than it should be, about half way between the brake pedal and the floor. If I pull the pedal up the cable goes slack in the centre tunnel. Assuming nothing has gone wrong inside the gearbox (levers etc look fine), and discounting a stretched clutch cable (must be 2" in a couple of days!) the only thing I can see that would cause such a problem is a sheared roll-pin at the base of the clutch pedal.

Can anyone confirm my diagnosis before I pull the pedal box - or give me any other pointers before I get stuck in?

Thanks

Danny

PS Please remember the set-up is slightly different from LHD
PPS Anyone got a drawing of the right-hand drive set-up?
