Buying then renting a property in UK

I'm thinking of buying a property in the UK, although im not currently living there (Back every 6 months) The idea being that I can then rent it out and the payments would go towards paying the mortgage. The house would be in the town i grew up in, and near my folks although I want to use an agency to get tenants and maintain the property. Still in the early stages so just curious as to whether anyone on here does something similar? Can make recommendations on anything from feasibility to agencies in the Leeds area.
