Been looking at both the 135i and the 123d but I've since heard about the 1 series M coupe does anyone have any ideas on price?

Seems a little silly me buying the 135I now this will be coming along

I think you'll be looking at around 40k when spec'd up

Thanks,

Very nearly purchased a 135i Convertible a week or so back so I'm glad I didn’t go through with it

Proper M car will make things a little easier to change, looking forward to the car being tested

It wouldn't surprise me if the 1M is slightly more than £36k basic.

The 135i Coupe is what, £31k basic. Back in 2006 a Z4 Coupe 3.0si Sport was £32k and a Z4M Coupe was £41k.

I'm just guessing but I wouldn't be suprised to see the 1M close to £40k, nearer to £45k with tasty options.

I would agree, we're likely to see it nearer the £40k mark. I'm considering a 135i when I come to change the 123d (which won't be for another 18 months or so) but I'll take a good look at the 1M coupé as well.

Bear in mind that the current 1-series coupé (E82) is due for replacement soon (F22) and they had to fight to get the 1M signed off on this body shape. Shame they didn't allow it to be the 'M1'. I can only guess that BMW either have plans for the M1 brand (an R8 competitor perhaps?) or place have a large degree of respect for the M1 name. The F22 M1 is rumoured to be being developed around a 4-pot turbo'd engine as they downsize (M5 going 4.4 V8 twin-turbo, M3 going 3.0 straight 6 twin-turbo etc).

Someone's posted their idea of how it could look from the teaser shots so far. I think this is a pretty good effort:

Still not sure on looks. If it were my choice I would take a 135i 3dr in white.

coming from an elise you'll find the handling isn't up to much, but the rest of the package is very good.

My 123d was £32k specced up new (not that I paid that at 11 months old) so I imagine it would be easy to spec up a 1M to £45k

I think they need to be careful pricing at over 40k, the price will creep up with option's and make the car redundant with the M3 etc

I'm not buying the car for track work, it's a road car to be used on the road and to be honest I haven't used our current R on the track anyway. I just don't have much spare time anymore

There's a few other options for 35k - 40k so they need to be mindful, I'll wait and see what it's like when it's released.

What are you driving steff?

Anyone know what the power output and weight of the M1 Coupe will be?

I fear that it will not be much quicker than a mildly breathed on 135. In fact I fear that all it will be is a mildly breathed on 135 with M jewelry.

My 135 with the JB3 fitted (£300 - switchable maps) is a very quick car, Ok its bit lardy in the corners on a track, but on the road it is very capable indeed. The 1M will have to be very, very good to justify the extra.
