It lasted well. After being damaged & filled about 15 years ago, a sudden unexpected burst of toothache saw it condemned and bye bye molar time. Only time I've had one out other than a wisdom tooth.

It was a bit of an awkward job for dentist - at one point he sent his assistant out for more tools "No, not that one, the one shaped like a golf club..." yikes

Anyway, out it came. I had an upper wisdom tooth out a few years ago & that healed fine & quickly but this one doesn't seem to be quite the same.

It came out 4 weeks ago. There's no dry socket (I'm told that's excruciating, which this isn't), the skin appears to be visibly healed, or near enough anyway. I used salt water mouthwashes & medicated mouthwash for a while.

I'm just curious though. The bulk of the swelling (& pain) subsided over the first week/10 days but I'm left with a small swelling on the outside gumline and the feeling you get if you had some food lodged between your gum & cheek. There's no pain.

Is this normal? Will it just take time? or am I about to have something alien-like burst forth? Should I be doing anything to help it along?

I wasn't expecting a new one to grow, it just seemed different to when I had a wisdom tooth out. (I'm still ¾ wise though silly )
