Condition of station cars

I cut through the train station car park on my way home and noticed the state of the paintwork on most of them. These are nice cars, BMW, Audi, Porsche etc and the state of the paintwork on most of them is terrible.

The paintwork looked like sandpaper and needed a good wash, clay, polish and wax. I can't understand how people would spend so much money on somethng and not keep them in reasonable condition.

I could understand the £500 ers but the decent metal?

Probably so they're not quite so bothered when the inevitable happens and it gets nicked / damaged. There's no way I'd park a nice car in a dodgy station car park all day like so many seem to do. If you can afford a £60k 911, then surely another couple of grand on a daily runaround isn't too much to ask?

Or maybe if you spend all that money, you want to drive it after (and before) a hard day in the office? (although they're probably bankers so spend all day snorting coke and swigging champagne whilst their computer programmers lose my pension pot! )

Thts the thing though. I can't bring myself to drive a crap car, ok mine os only woth £3,000 if im lucky. Im tempted to get a second sporty car but I only have a single garage. I can't bear the thought of the paintwork on the E30 deteriating by being left out of a garage

No, I'd only expect that outside a train station, or maybe at a petrol garage.

Or more likely they really don't care. It's all stuff they can have touched up and fixed for a few hundred quid come p/x time.
