I'm making a habit of this............

Dual Carriageway through Yeovil, past PC world sneeky non signposted bit. Van with dayglo stickers blatantly obvious. So I quickly switch off any unnecessary electricals and pull in for chat.

What is the speed limit then? as it's 40 & signposted on the other bit. It's a 30 I should know but it really is not obvious enough if you are to lose your licence over it now. (30mph bit no limit signs except on the entry to the roundabout before the dualled bit).

Anyway got chatting to asssistant who is Trafpol, a bit keen to say the least!, retires from plod this week to take this up I assume. 39mph is the catch limit, which is a 50mph road I'd say & not Like it's a really dangerous. Getting peeps going away & approaching too.

He said the are starting to spot a few people with "Garage Door Openers" quite frequently too. The unit "gave up" with those he said.

Just for fun I asked what speed the signs do?, 0mph & 43.1m away, so fair enough an accurate on the spot test that was.

This was blatant unsigned dual carriageway, albeit with camera signs on. But the dual the other end of the roundabout is 40mph & clearly signed, so why not clearer signs if its where people should be "driving safely" anyway this got me very annoyed after I drove around & checked the signs later on.

Not familiar with the road, but surely the limit remains in force until it's changed with another sign? So if it says 40mph on one bit then it's the same all along? Why does a roundabout in the middle change anything?

I assume that the 30 MPH has street lights and that that is the reason for the 30MPH limit.
Does the 40 also have street lights?
If so, it would appear not to be possible to know that you are in a 30 MPH limit until you become aware of the non-existant 40 repeaters. I would have thought that not noticing that one was missing was quite reasonable. Therefore, if the van was less than 750m[*] from the start of the 30 limit, I would have thought that you had a good defence.
[*]Dependendent on the actual spacing of the 40 repeaters.

Did you ask them how they felt about being responsible for all these deaths and how their families would feel when they were put on trial for their war crimes?

Good point that. Now on the to do list for when I take control.

When the time comes, would you like a job, nonegreen? Any experience with firing squads?

note for The Lovely Mary...the foregoing does not signify my intention to stage a coup and I have no intention of giving nonegreen a gun in the pursuit of justice.

Question, What do they do when they find a car with a 'no read signal'.

Do they

a) flag it down and try and find laser jammer
b) let it pass but send details to local bib to make a housecall
c) ignore it

I guess 'c' as it involves the least paper work and gives them more time to collect cash.
