O/T - V8 badge from Rover P6/P5/MGB - fitting advice

Anyone know how they fit? They are original Rover 3500 P5/P6/MGB badges with 2 pins sticking out the back which taper away from the badge, ie the fatter end is nearest the badge. I assume you drill a hole slightly smaller that the biggest diameter of the pin and they wedge into place. Will they be OK in the fibreglass - I'm sure they're Ok as I've seen others with them.

I removed the pins from mine as it would have stick into the boot.
I fixed mine with one of those replacement mirror sticky rubber pads cut to profile of the badge.

The ones you are talking about with the peg's go thru the metal (or GRP in our case) and then have a 'bite washer or fixing washer' pushed on them so they don't come out....
your best fixing with double sided pad's as said before... or buying one already with the sticky stuff on... have seen some good ones on e-bat before but you need to be choosey!!..also, don't like the idea of drilling holes if not ness..

Make a cardboard template to mark the pin positions stick that onto the area you want the badge to be and mark where to drill the holes ensuring it is square
Drill a pilot hole using a 1mm drill bit then open them up to i think around 3mm then mix up some nice strong glue or resin/hardener dab it in the holes and on the pins and around the Pin bases then pop the badge into position keep pressure on the badge for a couple of minutes Job Done my three have been fine for the last five years HTH

Sounds like my old Austin Healey badges which were fixed by pushing a star washer over the tapered pin that you describe from inside the panel. The 'star' digs into the soft metal pin and they are an absolute b*****d to remove later if you need to, or so I found. If I was doing it again I'd use some double sided adhesive foam.

The pins go into plastic inserts fitted into holes in the panel. As you push the badge in the tapered pins tighten in the hole in the plastic (I Think)

If you want to try something other than the metal V8 badge I have the artwork from when I had rocker cover badges done with the V8 logo.
Its in PDF format but its easy enough to convert to something else.

Thanks all. I knew it was gong to be dificult which is why I haven't done anything yet. Do prefer the badge than a sticker TBH.
