How do I get rid of a bad smell

My daughter has been sick in the back of my car and I need to get rid of the smell. Its coming from the carpet in the rear footwell. I have used soap powder and fabreeze but its not enough. Anyone any ideas as to what else I can use.

The powder used was biological, maybe not enough used. I am looking for a cheap alternative to getting a valeter in.

You can also buy little packets of Gel,not unlike an Air Freshener, but try the powder first.

Simple Solution stain and odor remover. Pets at home sell it.

Baking powder.

Shake liberally in the area of the smell, or you can put a pile of it in a plate or dish and place nearby.

Somehow the powder manages to soak the smell up.

No idea how it works, but I picked up the tip and used it in the boot of my old Civic, after my sister had a bale of hay in there and a ripped-open bag of rabbit feed. Bloody car stunk of Pets at Home. The baking powder managed to rid me of the smell.

Don't know if it'll work with child-sick, but it'd be my first go.

Use a wet vacuum cleaner. Us plenty of water/cleaning solution to soak the affected area. This will dissolve the puke then slurp it up into the cleaner!

Had this very same problem when my (86 year-old) dad was sick in my car following a fall and a bad knock to the head.

Tried everything with no luck, then a friend suggested bicarbonate of soda. Worked a treat!

No you will want to wet the carpet first and throw it on liberally, scrub it in then rinse it out thoroughly and dry it out. You might be better off removing the affected carpet to do this. It works by dissolving the crap with the effervescent effect of the powder when you wet it and scrub it in, like those "Oxy-action stain remover" products.

I reckon your best bet is bicarbing the carpet and then applying neutradol, that stuff is a pretty powerful smell-stopper.
