So it was Sunday evening, and after four hours we finaly left the carpark at Spa(Belgium F1 GP)rolleyes
We were tearing along the bypass on the way to calis, then a pair of head lights approached rapidly from behind. I pulled out of lane wondering what it was, and an E-type tore by. My son did not know what it was so i told him it was an E-type. I changed down and caught up with it and took a closer look. Then changed down and returned the favour, after slowing down again it caught up and my son looked over and says, "hey dad its Martin Brundel". So i looked and it indeed was. So i changed down in the Ferrari and took of with the Capristo wail. Then i slowed down and he came tearing by again in magnificent style.
To cut a long story short he is indeed a very cool guy, with a very cool E-type.
Then when we got back to the UK, my son and i watched the recording of the F1 on Monday and low and behold, it started with Martin Brundel in his E-type picking up the f1 commentator Jake for a road trip to the Spa GP.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Brundle was a GREAT racer and a properly knowledgeable bloke. He's also a top bloke.

Everyone I have ever dealt with who has dealt with him says he is simply everything you'd want a racing driver to be.

Good stuff. He certainly seems to be a top bloke on the BBC stuff.

Dont be to jealous though mate. The track its self and the racing was 10 out of 10. Were as the facilities for the paying public i score 0 out of 10. Portaloos, no water/taps, crappy muddy spectator banks and two Kangaroo tv stall to cater for the whole track. Very armature facilitys indeed. Then you have the crappy car parks and officials/staff who did not have a clue about most subjects.
But Lewis did good, the F1 cars sounded fantastic and i drove a stretch with Brundel in our sports cars, so there the memories i will remember smile
Will i do Spa again........only when its updated for the paying public. Dubai or Singapore next year i recon smile

I can't recall whether Henry has any TWR Jags in his collection of Group C machinery - 956/962, GT ONE yes, but TWRs? Does anyone know?

I had wondered why Brundle had selected a V12 - most Eagle owners tend to go for the earlier cars....

The facilities may not be as swish as the newer government funded circuits, but it was still Spa and it still beats the daylights out of gardening! hehe

I always thought that the bratwurst cooking facilites were pretty much up there with the best!

I was there in the p1ssing rain of '98 and had a perfect view of MS running into the back of DC. Shuey's wheel was thrown up and landed in the spectator free zone (within the perimeter of the track). An hour or so later, I saw a marshall walking off with the entire wheel c/w upright, brake disk and caliper. A nice souvenir if he was able to keep it!

Yeah, Brundle's E-Type is a lovely car.

I saw it last year at Spa (himself and DC were staying in the same place we were).

And from what I saw he wasn't afraid to drive it how it was meant to be driven.

+1 on that one... As usual we were doing the camping thing. Camping prices double that of Germany and facilities miles behind...

I also wondered why Brundle went with the later model. Stunning as it was if I had his money it would have to be a series 1.

Great to see TV presenters willing to show off their own cars on TV and just how particular he was with it. The look of horror when he accidentally spilled coffee on the roof was funny. But I would think twice about bringing any of my nicer cars to an F1 event. Too much potential for damage.

Brundles is an Eagle E-Type I think i.e a completely restored car with modern running gear.

Think he uses it to drive to a lot of the European F1 races with DC
