What, very old, car is this?

The photo below is of my Dad in a rather poorly car. The photo was taken in the very early 70s in Ireland, so given its condition when the photo was taken, the car probably dates from the 50s, or earlier.

Can anyone identify it?

The doors and the shape of the windscreen give it away. Definately a Cambridge.

Looking at the two-tone paintwork, my first thought was someting from the Rootes Group - maybe a Sunbeam Alpine?

Check the quarter light windows, the door handles and the way the pale stripe on the doors starts to descend towards the rear of the rear door.

Ooh.. nice work! (quick too). A Google image search shows that some Cambridges didn't have the wide stripe along the side, so is it possible that the Morris/Riley/MG/Wolseley versions of the Cambridge had the wide stripe?

The engine bay shot is a bit of a slam dunk.
