Average Length of time to Sell

I have had my Tuscan up for sale for three weeks now in three places Piston Heads, Auto Trader and Ebay. And I have only had a couple of phone calls from real buyers ( and did not actually come and see the car) and a few companies that are trying to sell it through thier finance company for a charge.



Is this normal?

I have looked at the current prices and I think it is reasonably priced, what do you think?


The only comment that has bee recieved is that "It is a bit orange" and that has put people off, but again in person I think it looks much better than it does in the photo's. But I would have assumed that people would at least come and view it first and than decide.

I am open to suggestion as to anything I could improve in the advert.

Quick look in the classifieds suggest it might be a bit on the high side price wise. Look at TVR MADS and Sebring- each have a similarly aged car but with the 4.0 engine (perceived to be worth more)for similar money vs yours as a private sale which people expect to be cheaper. Add in the potential for the colour (I like it) to put some people off and that may explain it.

Suggest giving more detail on the service history, date, mileage, service agent for each visit etc.

3 weeks isn't a huge amount of time either. Took me just over 4 when I sold my previous Chimaera before I even got a call.
Remember the market for cars such as these is tiny, factor in the fact most Tuscan buyers want the 4.0 and the love it or hate it colour and you reduce your market even further.

I am currently looking for a Tuscan as you will know as you replied to my thread so I thought I would give you the buyers view if you like.

For me the Colour is not an issue, in fact I like outlandish colours, I think there are too many standard colour Tuscans about and they tend to look very similar, I do agree about the engine, I am only looking at the S model or T2 Convertibles and I really believe that most potential buyers will also look intially for the 4 litre cars, additionally I agree with some other points raised in this thread, there are similar priced cars from reputable dealers who will offer some form of warranty and as result will give some small piece of mind to some buyers.

I cant do a lot about the colour or the engine size, but I can alter the price.

I have further reduced the price and hopefully it will now generate some interest.

I sold my Tuscan in April. It took about 5 to 6 weeks to sell although I got a fair few phone calls before selling it!

Your car is a cracker, I'm wanting another one but buying a house comes first, if not I'd be very interested as I'm wanting one in orange.

hang in there - specialist cars need specialist buyers.

I had a two week spell with not a single call and mine was one of the cheapest in the country.

Then the phone rang off the hook and I reckon I could have sold it three times over.

I'm not a huge fan of fleabay but you would be surprised how much they go for on there - bear in mind a successful bid is only half the battle - you have to hope they actually turn up with the readies.
