Soft-tops - What is wrong with you people?

Clear blue sky. Bit nippy but 13/14 degrees but hardly cold and very comfortable with the heater on a touch.

25 miles and I was the only person with the roof down.

That has always been my point of view.

I must be having a mid life crisis because i've spent the last 2 weeks loving the roofless experience (which has never had any appeal whatsoever) and wondering why the hell i didn't do it sooner.

For the record i am a heterosexual introvert. I probably look extremely nobby but i don't care

My point was; why have one if you aren't going to use it?

I always try to get my roof down whenever the weather isn't awful. A clear sky normally does it for me, i'm not hardcore enough for all weather though

I agree. Closest I've been to a full vert is a Corvette with a detachable roof and two Z28s with T-tops, both of which were usually off. I suspect if I had a convertible, I'd have the roof down a lot but at my age, I do feel the cold. Maybe an SL with the warm air scarf thingy and auto roof would be a good compromise as I am also lazy....

Ahhh so still in the honeymoon period after just 2 weeks.

See if you're still doing it after 2 years.

Had a Z3 and then Boxster over a four year period a few years back.

Steadily used the roof down less and less and less and would only bother for really nice days when not bombing down the motorways into work.

Of course, at the start, I would be driving around at sub zero temperatures so long as it wasn't actually raining... but that does wear off

Roof down at all times, unless absolutely pouring. What's the point otherwise?

(Mind you I'm originally from the West of Scotland so my "good weather" benchmark may be relatively low).

When I had my TVR the roof was up only when it was raining.

Even on 150-mile journies, the roof was down.

Been guilty of not dropping the top much recently only becuase the car has sat outside and is dewey in the morning. Never good to put down a damp hood. Once my garage is sorted, topless all the way!

My friend had an MG once and he turned up one day when the sun was blistering with the windows down, rear window removed but the top up. when I asked why he said it was too hot to have the roof down!!!

Since then Ive seen a few people who do this WHY!!??

Also why have the top down and the windows up? Never understood that.

In my GTI I have windows down and sunroof open always unless its raining!

Because I didn't particularly want a soft top but the car that did what I wanted only came with it? Basically it's a negative not a positive.
