E46 330i kangaroo / throttle issue
Discussion
Any ideas on the issue below?
On light throttle openings when the engine is cold, i.e. first thing in the morning (and to a lesser extent when warm) the car seems to have a touch of the kangaroos (surge-lull-surge-lull).
It idles perfectly, hot or cold. It doesn’t feel like a misfire; all 6 cylinders seem to be firing consistently. DSC on/off makes no difference. It’s nothing to do with the clutch. It seems to be something to do with some aspect of the throttle control system itself whereby a constant (small) input doesn’t result in a constant rate of forward motion. With no throttle input at all, the issue goes away.
It’s much worse when cold which made me wonder if it’s anything to do with an O2 sensor which obviously goes through a wider range of operating temperatures than some components in tha air/fuel control system.
Any suggestions?
