failing that, your local BMW dealer might be able to help you?

Rang them, they gave me an 0906 number to call which is charged at £1/min and apparently i have to wait for the next available operator.

Don't wish to come across as rude, but how much will a call to BMW cost as a percentage of the purchase price? Worth it for peace of mind on a thirty five odd grand car imho.

this.

or did bmw give you an 0906 number? i'd find that rather surprising!! if not, try another dealer. failing that, go into the dealer and ask to speak to the service manager. my dealer is always very helpful, may be 1 million miles from you but they are usually good - scotthall hampshire. sure they'd try and help you out.

Tried Scothall, everyone was busy and i have been promised a call back. I went into my local dealership and they could not find the car on their system by its reg number - peculiar!

Don't worry too much, until you have checked it out my car Reg comes up as Range Rover on some systems, but I'm sure its not, the computer is not always right and is only a good as the goofball who entered the data, check and check again!!

Dude

I have said this many times so don't take it personally. After all the work you have done to find some details *without* spending £3-4 on the BMW line, you have I am sure spent a few times that amount already and that is even if you put *no value or importance* on your own time^^

It never ceases to amaze me what people will do to "save money". Several times I have seen people take advice from an anonymous internet site.....oh wait......rolleyes

Great Stuff miniman, where did you get that info from? I really need the last 7 digits of the chasis number so i can get a printout of spec and service history from my local BMW garage on the way home from work. I have spoken to the owner who has it buts it at home and hes at work until 6pm. Any way of finding out the last 7 digits of the chassis?

that info is available on the dvla site, that's why i suggested you check it smile

you shouldn't need chassis number, BMW CAN do it from reg. plate regardless of what they say. my dealer can do it from my reg number on the '82 e21 and the '08 e92 m3.

Yeh but like i stated above, they cannot find it on their system. They said it could be because the owner from new may have applied a private reg to the car when it came out new and therefore on their system it would still be registered under that reg number. the only way they can check is by chassis number
