OK, we all have our favourite places to 'slightly' exceed the speed limit, and of course, we all look out for scameras etc when doing so.
I have number of places where I can and do safely break the speed limit on a regular basis, without any real fear of being caught. This week I passed four of them within two days, ALL with either Bib or mobile scameras! The funny part? Just for once i was driving my dad's (very slow) van and was nowhere near exceeding the limits.
I would love to know how many casualties were prevented on the A638 between Dewbury and J40 of the M1 on Wednesday by the scamera operated by 'West Yorkshire Casualty Reduction Partnership'. I've commuted that stretch every day since October and not seen a single accident...

Oh absolutely, so do I. The A171 from Whitby to Scarborough can be very enjoyable for a bit over the 60. OK then, maybe more than a bit!

The A169 from Whitby to Pickering is also very good. In fact I reckon in decent conditions between the top of Blue Bank and the outskirts of Pickering (a distance of about 16 miles) there are only two places where you need to drop below 70. It's a nice road.

On my way home from my latest car delivery job last Friday I saw a strange sight though. It was about 6.15 pm and I was tootling quietly down the long hill towards the bridge at Eller Beck (at just under 60 mph honestly) when I met a large white estate car coming up the hill towards me. There were some letters - about six, I think - on the bonnet, the first letter looked like a 'P' and as we passed each other I was struck by the thought that this vehicle looked rather like a large piece of battenberg in the shape of a Volvo. It seems ages since I saw anything like that on the road, I wonder what it was.

Anyhow, if that was you Andy Vasey or Dave (50 limit at Charltons) Burlingham, my greetings to you. Next time we meet we really must stop for a chat, so long as you're happy to talk about something more interesting than speed limits.

Best wishes all.
Dave.

Yep, on my way home last night, was stuck in a line of traffic, so not on this occasion speeding, over the motorway bridge comes a police van, followed by a civvie car, then SEVEN police cars in a row . I've never seen that many police together in my home town before. just as well i was in a line, although presumably they would be too busy to worry about me.

Top road!!, I've been down there as a passenger in a skyline very early one morning. Lets just say the driver assumed the road number was the speed limit :cough: That bendy hilly bit gets interesting if you try it flat out going up
