Mate and his wife bought a new Octavia. Have had an issue with wind noise on drivers side. Skoda dealer have car, can hear problem and keep it to sort.

They managed to get 2 stone chips in the windscreen whilst test driving it. They kept it an extra day to sort, and have only repaired them. The resin repair is clearly "safe", but since they are both in line of sight of driver, and still visible, is this reasonable - or can he reasonably expect them to replace the windscreen so it is as it was when he dropped it off.

He's suggested they replace the windscreen and they put the phone down on him!

i'd be making a formal complaint.

not about the windscreen, but about the attitude of whoever put the phone down.

they may get a new windscreen as a bonus.

I would say definately not. Why should he not get it back in the same condition he gave it to them in! Also, +1 on the complaint about whoever put the phone down on him.

Would the Dealer not be able to claim off their own insurance, we have done this in the past. (OK, it was a long time ago though)

Complain to Skoda Head Office. They would come down on them like a ton of bricks. Trying to build a brand and the dealers do something like that!

To both offences.

Thanks. I think he may have sworn a bit, but not until after they said "we aren't replacing it, it isnt happening"...

Manufacturers of happy drivers? Give a call to the Dealer Principle or Skoda HQ, them having already filled the chips is the evidence he might need against them

Ah right, that changes thing. If someone swore at me down the 'phone I would hang up too.

Not only should the replace on principle, but I strongly suspect that they would have to replace through obligation. He dropped of the car in mint condition, they damaged it, they should fix it. Simple.

I dont think he swore at them - more "bloody windscreen etc".
