Like for like hire car?
Discussion
Some may know that I have a seemingly endless ongoing insurance claim with Admiral at the moment regarding someone rear ending me in my car while I was on holiday abroad. Without rehashing the details, Admiral have told me that once repairs are authorised, they can provide a hire car while the repairs are in progress. What is the scope (in legal terms or otherwise) for me to demand a like for like car for this time period? Are they obliged to provide like for like?
Anyone been in the same situation?

Yes you are, I got a like for like when my car was smashed a while ago, I went through europa consultants though. The thing is the other insurance company will fight tooth and nail against the costs of hiring a fezza or whatever it is you have when they'll reckon you should just get a clio and it can lead to the case taking yonks to resolve.
When my brother-in-laws 550 got biffed in a few years back, they offered like for like.
Started off with something not remotely like for like, so he had a word. They then came around with a 550 and he rejected it because it was too tatty and drove like a nail - apparently the driver said something along the lines of "thats not going to go down well, its the Gaffers own car"
They then gave him a brand new 911 targa. As this happened in something like May, the Ferrari factory wasnt able to provide a headlamp required, so the car was going to take a while to repair. As the insurance company were paying silly money for the 911, they eventually struck a deal that he would be financially compensated and they'd take the 911 back.
Personally, a non-fault claim, I would be very angry if they gave me a Punto or something to replace a Ferrari, especially as you're still paying insurance/tax etc, but I suspect the result will depend on your policy/perseverance.

Try I think "Anniesdad" on here as they do replacement hire.
yep he runs europa consultants that I was talking about up the tophttp://www.europaconsultants.co.uk/
Accident Exchange sorted me out with a 997 C2S for 5 weeks after someone hit my 996 C4. Only cost me a tenner for the insurance waiver thing they advise you to get when they leave you the car. I think the hire charge came in at around £20K by the time the case was settled. No hassle for me though. Nice test drive

Without his help I'd have had to stump for the repairs myself, instead the AA were left with a bill for several thousand in repairs and hire costs on a Boxster for a month.
