Alfa 156: Is this a good deal?

Been to my local Alfa dealer today to look at a 156 on their forcourt.

The car is a December 2005/55 156 1.9 JTD 16v Sport 4 door. The car is one owner from new with 52,000 miles and full Alfa service history supplied and serviced by the same dealer from new.

The car was up at £6,500. I've have knocked them down to £6,000 and got them to agree to refurb one alloy, fix some parking dents, paint a wheel arch which is slightly damaged, regas the climate control, full service, new MOT and 12 months warranty.

This is a reasonable deal? I appreciate it's not especially cheap but it is my local dealer and gives me piece of mind knowing they are down the road and I have a warranty with the manufacturer.

Sounds like your trying to convince yourself its a good deal. Maybe it is.
Best thing is shop around and see what they are selling for in that condition and milage.
ive no idea on a 2005 model.
I bought a 1999 156 2.0 TS for £600, a PX from our Vauxhall dealer. It was a great looking car, very nice to drive. Sold it for £1200.

Should be able to get similar, private, for circa £4000. If not a little less.

Depends how much you value buying from a dealer as to whether that is a good deal or not.

Its about right then. The Diesels always fetch pretty good money.
Is it a desirable colour that will sell again easy? like the red or black.

Its not a particularly good deal. Its also very discouraging that they've put a car on their forecourt needing so much work.

Alfas 'get you' though. If you really love that particular car and nothing else will do, then go for it.

Alfas 'get you' though. If you really love that particular car and nothing else will do, then go for it.

To be fair I'm fussy. The cosmetics don't really need doing, to most the car is virtually immaculate, however I've asked them to do these bits in the price.
