Any recommendations?

Hi Guys,

Im new to all this so sorry if I'm a little bit off the pace.

I have just recently qualified in my job and am after a new car. I have around 10,000 to spend and I am soon to be 21. Was just wondering if anybody had any ideas as to what I should go for?

Is that £10k in your pocket, cash, or a £10k budget?

OP - is the 10k to spend on car only, or car + insurance? Lotus Elise S1?

What about something a bit more out of the ordinary for a 21 year old? Jaguar XJS or some such?

We'll need some pointers: what do you look for in a car? What do you enjoy? What type of driving is the car going to be used for?

Erm.. if i had 10k and assuming it will be a daily driver..

Coupe: M3 or 330i
Hot hatch: Focus RS or Clio 197 (200's are out of budget)
2 seater: S2000 or Boxster

Definitely need more info - is insurance included in the budget because that it going to rule out a number of cars immediately.

Also, how much will you have for fuel and maintenance etc?

I'm 23 now, but the insurance was putting my off M3's and S2000's when I was 21 - so I bought a cheaper car and will get into the performance stuff soon.

£10,000 is money to spend on the car. I realise that insurance costs are going to be high but thats not to much of an issue. I work away 6 weeks on and 6 off so the car is for my time at home. Will be used for everyday use while and home and kept securely when im back away.

Fast but preferably more than 2 seats, something with a boot too.

Not to bothered when it comes to the roof issue.
