Thought it was about time I posted some piccies of the Bimmer up on here. I've had it since April so they've been a long time coming.
I'm actually trying to sell it at the moment (it's on the classifieds and ebay) but it just doesn't seem to want to go. Only seem to be getting people wanting to swap for random cars I have no interest in.
It's a 1998 E36 Compact 316i, not going to set the road on fire but it's nippy and fun in its own right. Fantastic handling car. Reminds me of my old CRX with it's go kart feel. Covered 120k but going strong and is very tidy all round.
I'm selling it because we have just had our first child (baby Ellie!) and it's become a bit impractical. Having to transport 2 dogs already, the boot is redundant and so the roofbox was needed. Its a Karrite Odyssey on Thule bars. I didn't like the standard silver so sprayed the box up in the same red as the car with a matt black top. I also slapped an 8" PH smilie on the back!

I had one of these, tried to sell it for ages, couldn't shift it! People only wanted the Coupe. Only way I could get rid of it in the end was to trade it in for peanuts.
Seems to be the problem I'm having. Will just have to hang onto it for longer if I can't shift it. The compact only came as either a 316 or 318.
I love them. Prefer them over the coupe anyway. I bought it as I wanted an e36 but wanted a usable boot (for the dogs) too. The compact fit the bill perfectly. Just a shame they never made a 5 door e36 hatch.

I already have a BMW Compact but I'll give you £1500 for the baby! 
That is a very nice clean one but the 316i is relatively underpowered (although of course the chassis and handling are superb)so they do tend to play second fiddle to the 318ti. There was a 323ti as well but I don't think they made it to the UK, unfortunately. Bearing in mind that a clean 318ti will easily sell for £1750 and possibly higher for '99 or '00 M-sport edition, it's a shame that 316ti probably only goes for 100-1250 despite probably being in better condition. However, as a base to start a track day car project it would be awesome. If I had more money to start buying more cars I'd be in there!
