Anyone do it ?

Ive only lately got into float fishing and really enjoy it but also fancy getting a pole and trying that, can someone explaing how it works ?

All i know if you put them together to make a long pole and have different ( last bit ) ends with different elastic fitted for different weight fish.

then add on your line and hook, do you use a float or just watch for the elastic ?

Is that like Fly Fisting by JR Hartley? (Apparently he had very small hands).

Yep you use a float just like fishing with a rod and reel, although the floats are alot lighter than the ones you use for normal float fishing.

The elastic in the top kit is just used to take the strain off the line, just like the drag on a normal fishing reel. You can get different strenth elastics to use, which you change depending on what you're fishing for.

Its fun sailing a canal boat past a load of guys that have just set their pole up perfectly and are waiting on the fish biting.

The look on their face when they realize that the barge isnt stopping is priceless.

I've just got back into fishing after taking a couple of years out doing other stuff.

Can't get the idea of pole fishing, I have two rods and they're perfectly fine for fishing my local commercial.

Where abouts do you go fishing OP?

Yep basics are the same and it lets you fish exactly where you want to. It is good having less line to tangle like you said, and it doesn't get affected by the fecking wind so much hehe (unless your too weak to hold it against the wind wink)

Yeah some of the sections in that link do look the same, but they should be different diameters and fit together nicely.

I tried pole fishing but couldn't get on with it. I prefer a rod. poles require alot more concentration - holding the pole, endlessly shipping in and out to rebait. It gives you alot better presentation, can use lighter tackle, and means you can be alot more accurate with fishing spot etc, however, its not for me - i like to cast out and relax. Plus a half decent pole + roosts, holders, top kits, elastics etc can cost quite a bit
