Probably the wrong place but... HELP!

Good morning,
I recently got accepted into college on an IT and business course,
I got a student card and was just wondering if it was true from what i've been told,
Is it true you get discount because most people mistake these for NUS cards?
Also if the answer to the question above is yes, where gives discounts?
Please help im so confused!

The answer is to ask, a lot of shops that did discounts based on NUS cards switched to their own cards you apply for using your student card as proof you are a student.

I only had a 'student card' instead of the £10 NUS card and I just flopped it out when ever I was paying for whatever and got a discount. But this wasn't intentional not to buy the NUS card just never got round to it but I found that just the basic student card sufficed. (not checked for gramher)

as previous advice, ask.

when I had mine if they said 'do you have a student card?' i'd show my college card they would either say ok & give me the student discount or say 'sorry we only accept NUS cards' (some places didn't know what they were looking for at all so you could have shown pretty much any card going & got a student discount)

I would say you don't need an NUS card to qualify for most of your discounts.

I used to get a good deal on cheap tickets for Wasps and London Irish, at the age of being 35, just enrolled on a part time evening course at the local college. Used to get discounts from GAP, McDonalds, cinemas, theatres and other attractions. Was quite handy as I used to just ask "do you give a student discount" and it was surprising who said yes.
