Following the ridiculous battle of the car warranties, sparked partly by Toyota's inability to track faulty components in their supply chain, we are now seeing companies offer "Lifetime Warranties" - although the small print requires that you can only drive around 50 miles per year, never sell and must provide DNA and stool samples.
An interesting thought sprung to mind (well to me anyway) - IF you wanted to buy a car to last a lifetime, which car would you buy. Now we all have to appreciate that most cars are not built to last (like some used to be) and that they have a shelf life, but surely from a car that lasts for 25 years is more energy efficient that two that last 10 (or less).
So over to you for debate and suggestions. What car would you buy on the market now to last you a lifetime, and why?

I like the idea of a Defender (agree that you may need another track day toy) - these can be made to look very cool and you could probably repair with bits of an old washing machine.

A Defender paired with a Caterham would be perfect for me.
