Wheel Bearings... Special Grease or "multi Purpose" do?

Hi folks

I need to change a wheel bearing on my off road toy (Discovery). I got the bearing yesterday, but they came without any grease! Can I just use the plain old multi purpose stuff I bought to grease my tow ball with, or do I need something special for wheel bearings?

Surely the bearings will be lubricated by the oil in the axle?

Should usually use bearing grease, but it of course depends on the manufacturers spec for the part

LM usually isnt it?

if its the centre hub bearing it should be greased as its a sealed unit if its an unsealed bearing I always use HM grease

Only if the axle seals are really really broken
