This has bounced around for a few months following a post here, but the debate
about the confirmed unveiling at the Motor Show of a new or 'updated' TVR is
leaning towards the Cerbera.

So, although hypothetical at the moment, what would you like to see TVR do to
improve on what we have?

Go create some weather...

"Speed 10" engine, 6 litres 40 valve, 580bhp?
Subtle aero mods and standard Nitron damping?

I like the look of the gear shift from the Typhon.

I've heard rumours of a Cerbera replacement being on the roadmap too.

Before I start, I've always thought of the Cerbera as a bit more GT than out-and-out sports car (I've taken it on family holidays for example). I know this view isn't shared by many Cerbera owners......

What would I improve?

Handling - obviously things can be improved here. Handling in TVR world has moved on with the Tamora and T350 so a new Cerbera should reflect this.

More relaxed high-speed cruising - for those extended continental trips, the presence of a big 6th gear so you can sit at 120 at a bit less than 4000 revs would be great.

Bigger fuel tank - (at least as an option), again to help with the continental cruising.

More room in the rear - with clever design I'm sure more space could be made available at the rear. At present the rear seats are suitable for young children only. Even short trips for adults are difficult.

Better seals - I'm sure this varies from car-to-car but in the winter at speed my car is bloody cold.

Engine - 400BHP basic would be fine. 450 perhaps as a RR option. I'm sure the AJP won't make it into a new car I'm afraid, so it'll be the SP6.

Name - keep it!!!!

Options which could be appropriate:
a) sat nav
b) climate control
c) higher quality speaker installation
d) extra sound installation (again for enabling a weekend in Monaco a bit more tireless)
e) some others I can't think of at this time....

They could take out the crap rear seats, Make the boot or petrol tank a bit bigger, make provisions for the supercharged Speed 6, imrove the accessibility of the fuses/electrics, redesign the electrics, get rid of the annoying wiper controls, make the heater work properly, add more hot air vents, make the handbrake better, add sequential gearing, make the turning circle a bit better.

They could also modernise the looks a little with T350 type face and rear lights.

I don't think taking out the rear seats is the best way forward. The Cerb is the only 2+2 that TVR do, and not offering one would lose them quite a few customers IMHO. As someone else suggested, a way of getting the rear seats a bit more usable would be good.

Maybe TVR could get some styling tips from Charisma.

I'm with Admiral on this.

I use the car a good 70% of the time with the family.
When my daughter out grows the rear, there might be a huge bun fight
as neither my wife nor my daughter would want to be left out, so
bigger rear seats is a must.

Handling is a top priority.
The void between standard and AVO's let alone Nitrons is huge and
you simply cannot get the best from the car on a country lane without
one of the mod options.

Bigger fuel tank indeed. Already eyeing having to refuel from Calais to
Le Mans and as we return in the night, that might prove interesting!

Keep the AJP...I know, a pipe dream, but let the owner decide on
whether the go S6 or AJP rather than the order sheet.

Minor points. Make the battery easier to get to and for that matter, the
big fuse!

For those with GT in mind, add a decent Sat Nav option (for all TVR's)
that fits with the interior design.

Personally, I could live with RR staying an option as, with sensible head
on, how many times a year can you hit the top end? (be honest now!)

GCerbera - agree with you about keeping the AJP option (and I'm a SP6 owner). It would be a big commitment on TVR's part to keep it for one model though......

TVR are going to be offering a new 4 seater car at this years motorshow.

After literally hours of painstaking research and development they have decided to go with this.

The Cerbera for the family man.

They will replace the Cerb at some point with another GT esque car.

Think the wait will be rather longer though personally...

I think that it cant be much longer actually, due to the AJP8 and the lovely new emissions laws coming in...

Unless of course the 2+2 option for the Typhon is still available?

Personally - I dont want to see a replacement Cerbera as we know it now. Keep it going for as long as possible then let it become a classic like the Griffith. Let the Typhon take the Cerbera crown for the next ten years or so - then bring back the Cerbera to take the whole world on.

It needs to come back just how the Cerbera was launched - able to eat everything in a straight line, scare journalists and make little children cry on start up - every one of them within a mile of the car. Give it ten years, come back with an all new V8 - a more powerful, refined and reliable unit - with an even better voice. Possibly make sure it can outhandle the competition too??? I know TVR are keen on minimising drag on thier new cars, perhaps some thought can start to be focused on downforce then too???

agreed... i'm thinking v8 vantage alternative with 4 seats...

Better handling as standard, maybe t400r suspension geometry, better quality dampers, less wind noise, more room in the back, bigger fuel tank, 6 gears & a general tidy up.

Also use the same electronics as on the t350/ tamora to keep things simple. a stretched t350 might look quite interesting actually... but please make it look as good as the existing cerbera.

oh, and call me a wimp, but if lotus can develop abs for the exige, could we have the choice too, perhaps as an option or with an off switch for those that prefer?

Err not sure I follow you on that...

A sequential box would be nice as would removable rear seats, mine are hardly ever used so it would be nice to take them out and go just a little bit faster..
