DB levels

I have had a look around and can not see much on this subject.
I have a couple of questions regarding the speed six exhaust
Is there anywhere or anyone who can tell me what the DB levels are on a standard exhaust for my Tamora.
Is there a simple legitamate check I can do {like use the one on my phone]to check the Db levels.
And what is the differance between a standard exhaust and a sports exhaust with regards to the DB levels.

Im not sure on the standard but I believe the JP sports exaust can be as high as 117db.

Standard is around 96 to 98 Db's

That looks better I spoke to one person who said I should expect only 3-4 dbs thats not a lot for £300.
I have just put my meter that is on my phone about 12" away and to the side of the exhaust it was reading 99

for every db over 100 it effectivle doubles the noise so 3-4db is quite a difference

My Tam with JP and cats fitted is 108db standard is 103db
I think a standard would struggle to get under 100db with out extra T/Day cans being fitted

I have the JP back box and no cats on my T350.

Yep. Don't under estimate just how much higher 4 db is... It's not 4% higher if base is c. 100!

110.5 db with Racing Green 'Super Sport' cans with the cats in. Quite anti-social so my neighbours say but they don't half sound good when pushing on or on the over run!

DB160 Metre, useful with a TVR as it goes up to 160 DB!

I'd recommend Decibel as another option as well!

thanks for that, downloaded and used but strangely only 99db at/up to 5krpm. With a JP it seems a bit low??

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the poxy little microphone fitted into an iphone is not capable of receiving the required frequency's and levels to be an accurate DB meter?

I have a Jp box and I have just had decats fitted by the chaps at Str8six. The decats have made a big difference.

I may be at home tomorrow (thanks to the feckless tube "workers"), so I will try to take a reading with the Spl meter I use for my Av system.

I would not risk losing my fee for a track day buy testing with a crappy iphone app.
