I was thinking about putting some gold badges on my Griff, so I took a trip down to my local TVR dealer.

How much!!?? Both badges are over 50 quid, and 35 more each if I want them lacquered.

Is there an independant supplier I can get them cheaper from?

I've just got my replacement badge for my Giffith. Put it on yesterday. Looks great compared to the one I took off. The one that came with car started to look a bit shabby very quickly, the car's only 4 months old!
Can't help thinking that TVR should make them like the lacquered one's in the first place.
Cost £35 and you have to let Leven have the naff badge you take off.
Definitely looks much better.

Are the badges easy to get off then? My back one could look much better but when I gave it a jiggle it seemed to be on pretty firm.

Easy to remove. You have to get in the boot and pull away the glued down carpet. A couple of 5mm bolts hold the badge on. If you get a lacquered badge don't over-tighten it so as to avoid cracking the lacquer. Whack some Evostick on the carpet and stick it back in position - took about 20 minutes to do.

Has anyone managed to remove the dealer badge that Christopher Neils puts on?

I'd have a go, but very worried about removing the paintwork with it

I remember, back in my BMW days, following a stunning Cerby 4.5 with the Christopher Neil badge on the back and I thought that must have been the owners name!!! Would look good if your name was Chris Neil!!!

I thought gold badges were for Lexus owners and gangstas driving Mercs. The next thing you'll be asking for will be gold wheel arches!

The best thing about owning a TVR is that you don't need any badge to show people what you are driving. Nuff said.

It's not like anyone is going to see the badge anyway. Well, unless it is parked, but there is no fun in parking a sports car!

I think if I were you I'd keep those sort of comments to yourself, else someone might pick up on the fact that you want a "wind deflector" (read Tony&Guy hair-do screen) for you Wedge!!! Now what were you saying about naff add-on's???

I wasn't too struck on the idea of changing the badges on mine (seemed a bit Max Tosser). But having seen a fellow Chim with the Leventech gold badges. I was sold instantly (sp).

If you've got a dark coloured car like Cooper green, black, burgandy etc. Then the gold looks more descrete and tastefull.

Plus the fact that the Leven badges are laquered means you done get all the crap from the road stuck in the bonnet badge.

Don't tell me. You must have gold badges on your Griff right? I bet your Volvo has too, along with your lawn mower, your tooth brush. I bet you've even got gold taps in your bathroom. Besides, what type of person calls their car Grizzly!!!

Y GOLD? are you an Arabian oil baron? I think gold badges are so tacky, you could get gold wire wheels whilr your at it, maybe even black out the windows and lengthen the car by 4ft

Swapped my gold badges for Leven silver laminated type.
The paint was flaking off the gold badges and they clashed with the white paintwork

Squirrelz, Chris Neil badge is just stuck on,I used
hot (Not Boiling) water and finished off by T-cutting and polishing the revealed paint.

Can't see whats wrong with gold badges. Yes, my Chim has them - I didn't specify them, the dealer threw them in for free. They suit a dark blue car better than silver ones IMHO.

Maybe I shouldn't mention that I have now replaced most of the nuts/bolts under the bonnet with gold plated ones ... no, thought not.

Gold wheels could look OK I guess, better than chrome anyway. The silver ones don't look right somehow on some cars - formula red Chimaeras for example. They look too stark, especially if the tyres have been cleaned and blacked. Subaru style gold wheels would be OTT, but something with a hint of gold, like a classy hi-fi "champagne gold" finish might be easier on the eye.

What is with some of you?? If a gold badge is so bloody offensive to you, why bother to even make a comment on this thread?

I used to think this site was FULL of people who loved their TVRs and were fanatics. But it doesn't seem to be the case. Its disappointing to see such stupid/negative comments on here amongst what is a mostly very helpfull and supportive website.

If those of you who want to keep their TVRs totally standard, thats your choice. But you won't find me accusing you of being a boring twat because of it. So return the curtousey.
