What car for moving trip to Scotland?

I've got to drop off three adults and about 4-5 large suitcases and assorted boxes up to Aberdeen in 2 weeks time.

I fancy making a trip of it around Scotland afterwards with the wife so would like to hire something nice.

Would an Audi Q7 be my best option in terms of size AND comfort to hire? I don't fancy a people carrier but obviously I've got to be practical in terms of space and was hoping the Q7 would be big enough for 4 adults (inc me as the driver) and the luggage?

Any recommended routes from Oldham to Aberdeen? The sat nav is routing me up the M6 (I might stop off at the famous Tebay services as I've never travelled up that way). I'm also thinking of breaking the journey up in Edinburgh for 1 night on the way up.

Q7 sounds good. As for route after Edinburgh cross the Forth bridge into Fife. Follow signs for Kirkcaldy - then take the coastal road to Fife's East Neuk - stay a night in either Ansruther/Elie/Crail or continue on up to St.Andrews. This costal road will take you through all of these villages. I'm a bit biased as I've lived in a few - all really nice places. After St.Andrews continue on to Dundee following sign's for Aberdeen.

I've been told a Land Rover Discovery has 7 seats but when the rear 2 seats are taken out the load space is bigger than that of a Q7

I've never driven one before but have been offered a 2.7 Diesel for £300 for four days which seems ok to me.

Any downsides to the Discovery I should know about?
