So, today I was having my rear tyres replaced and decided to send the worn pair out in style by performing a couple of donuts in the empty car park next to my mate's garage. Turned the traction control off, spun the car on the spot around 4 or 5 times then parked it up with a whole host of faults flashing before my eyes!!! Well I say a whole host, but it was the flat tyre monitor, which I can understand, but there was a DSC failure warning on the dash too. I had turned the DSC off fully. But with the DSC fault up it wouldn't let me reset the flat tyre monitor!! Fortunately my mate has Autologic for BMW at his garage so he reset everything for me, but I wouldn't have expected a few donuts to cause such a fuss!!! Has anyone else experienced anything similar?? My E46's were fine with this, and the E36's before that.

I'm in Glasgow, I'd stay the hell out of Glasgow!!! Lol.

Why do new cars not like these antics?? Too many electronic gadgets?? After all, it's an M3!! Built to be put through it's paces on a track and be driven hard!!

(Cue all the folk out there that do nothing more than put petrol in and pose to give me a hard time for using the car as intended!!!)

Yip, the mind certainly boggles!! Imagine, a 60k BMW M3 not being able to take a "little" bit of abuse!! I'm almost scared to take it on track now in case it has a catastrophic meltdown!!! Lol.

If your car has standard brakes it will certainly have a brake meltdown!

I have played with a bit of drifting on a steering pad in my E92 M3 a couple of times, and had a day with Andy Walsh, with no adverse symptoms other than to the tyres. Track days OTOH have meant new disks.

Makes mental note to remember username when it is time to look for a car in the classifieds ..... Appauling behaviour for finishing off the last 1mm of legal tread!

My new tyres arrived in the post last weekend, and I'm off over to our unit on Saturday to replace them ........ via some nice sweeping, private, sealed and smooth farm access evil

Mine stood up to a bit of abuse on a 1-2-1 tuition day on an airfield, agree, the brakes got hot and grumbly after a bit, need better ones for track days.

You guys must not drive your cars...

Granted I haven't done any donuts and stuff in my car but it seems pretty normal to do that to a car with a decent amount of power.

The car should be fine. A couple of donuts shouldn't affect it in all honesty.

Mercs can also suffer from this as it activates the 'st im going to crash mode' on the computers hehe saw a sl55 that put up the roll bar & completely shut itself down as a result of a few donuts laugh

My 987 Boxster S had a similar fit when i got stuck in the mud trying to get up the hill at Goodwood, all sorts of warnings coming up but stopping and locking and unlocking sorted it out...

Spinning wheels seems to upset modern cars?!
