isn't I think it's just because it's a bit more raw, I've driven a seat Ibiza bocanegra with the same engine as the vrs, doesn't handle as well as the Clio but feels fast, gutsy because of the turbo/scharger and felt more solid, I like the flappy paddle

I've got one on order as my next company car (I don't need anything as big as my curent Octavia vRS, and the Fabia is more tax efficient).
I got mixed messages when I ordered it, though: dealers were expecting stocks in August, but when I contacted Skoda UK (to obtain an options list, which none of the dealers had), I was told that stocks of customer cars wouldn't be in the country until October.
If anyone has managed to get hold of one (a customer car, not a dealer demonstrator), I'd be interested to know their views.

and noticed on the way out they had a red demo car so may ring them in the week for a test driveOK. That would tie in with what Skoda UK told me about supplies enyway. Mine's been on order for a good few weeks, but we work differently: cars are ordered individually as and when your current car reaches the end of it's contract.
I must admit, the only thing that's worrying me is whether I'll get on with the DSG. I don't really do the automatic gearbox thing and it may take some time to persuade my feet that they don't need to heel-and-toe any more!

I don't mind auto's, if they are fully auto in auto mode, that's what they're for afterall, and that's going to be fine for pootling around.
But in manual mode, the DSG is still fully auto, all manual mode does is allow you to select a gear, but it will still change up/down, it won't hold that gear regardless. That will really get on my tits in terms of keeping the car balanced when pressing on. I do not want it kicking down halfway around a wet roundabout, or changing up at the redline, when it's supposed to be in manual mode.
Apparently there is a DSG remap from REVO that makes it do as it's told.

I agree. They were a bit premature with the launch marketing, perhaps.
Though to be fair, I ordered mine basically the same day it was launched; I cancelled an order for an Ibiza FR (which due to our arcane company car rules I'd had to specify as a diesel, since the TSi engine is only available in 2-door) that I'd placed only because the local Skoda dealerships had been adamant that there was no vRS version of the Fabia in the offing.

it looks terrible - someone asked a kid with crayons to draw postman pats van and they came up with that big slaphead design. Previous version was much nicer. Can just about get away with it in the estate version but a big thumbs down for the hatch here.
