SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI SPEC C R205
Discussion
STI SPEC C R205 only one in the country
The japs get some crazy cars!!
STI SUSPENSION....the full works dampers springs wishbones antiroll bars rose joints and extra STI underbody braces.
6 pot mono block brembo calipers at the front with 4 pots on the rear and grooved discs. Same set up used on the spec c they used on the 24 hour endurance and the new saloon that lapped the 7.55 nurburgring time.
Engine good for 500bhp lightweight aluminum alloys titanium exhaust leather interior 35kg lighter then a standard STI list goes on..........
Few pics

Not the biggest fan of the hatch but that is sweet. Also why is it the R205 and not S205 continuing from the previous models?
Not sure tbh they decided to go with R instead of S for some reason. TheY did have an RA-Rin the hawkeye shape which stood for record atempt-r( something can't remember what it is)Immy

any idea how much it'll work out at over here? wondering about price compared to the cosworth? i assume it would be possible to get another one imported
eta ok so its £35k, cosworth will be a bit faster though?
Would you really be able to tell in the real world?eta ok so its £35k, cosworth will be a bit faster though?

it depends on what they are really like, if the cosworth has a chunk more torque then i would say yes, if its just at the top end then less so, imagine they'll handle in a similar manner though you'd expect the cosworth to have a better setup for uk roads, that sti might be a bit stiff?
This car will no doubt be just as quick as the cosworth, and am quite positive it will handle better to. The cosworth has only gone for different springs and dampers the R205 has a complete overhaul of the suspension parts with additional bracing for improved rigidity. As standard it's 350bhp (they claim 310bhp gentleman’s agreement) and similar torque i can't imagine the cosowrth being much quicker than the R205 plus it's 12k cheaper!.
There will be a full feature against a cosworth in the UK's leading car mag which would make for good reading.
Not sure tbh, but for some reason subaru still understates the power of all there impreza range.
Three years back i had a type ra and had stage one mods it was kicking out 360bhp/370ltb. I sold that to a mate and bought an RA-R which was completely standard and factory claim was 320bhp. We had it out in a straightline and they were neck and neck. Went to oulton park and the RA-R was better round the track ,but it hink that was due to the tyres being 18" RE070. I did have 6 pots on the RA-R ,but my old type ra also had AP'S all round.

Sorry don't want to burst your bubble but the Cosworth will be considerably quicker in a straight line, power is "only" 316bhp/319 lbs/ft for the R205 compared to 395/400 in the CS400. That's quite a big power difference.
That is the factory claimed figure 316bhp/319ltb the special editions actually run 350bhp with 350 ltb atleast the S204 and RA-R did. This car feels quicker than any previous sti i've had. Evo tried and tested the cosworth and could not get anywhere near the claimed 3.5 sec mark of 0-60.I personally can't see there being much in it ,but i guess we'll have to wait and see.

I hope to pitch it up against a cosworth very soon and will let you know the outcome.
I don't forsee any problems beating the CS400, unless you use power circuits like Snetterton or Silverstone

My thoughts exactly, but i bet that ccan be easily addressed with an LM400
Immy
I would suggest in std format, remapped for UK fuel etc the R205 will still wooop the CS400 in real terms
OK very close either way on a Drag race, but a track or B road
The only thing i eckon it would lose speed on, is that Suspension although great on the Track it can be far to firm for "b" roads and will lose speed/control once airbourne

i'm a bit Bias to JDM's but I absolutely love "Prodrives" suspension set up's for the roads around my way
Pot holes and Yumps
and after doing loads of trackdays on their adverse handling track I can see how Mike wood developed it
