Min No of people to lift body off
Discussion
Mine caught with the boot hydraulic strut securing nut (inside the wheel arch and tucked away) catching the lip around the edge of the fuel tank. Took me ages to find it as the body flexed on lifting.
The back is heavy as you have to get it very high and the front is awkward as there isn't really anywhere to grip it, but back is lift and two power lifters could do that if strong enough, but 5 would be a bare minimum (1 per corner plus one to check free). I used a section of 4x2 through the wheel arches and un der the body to make it easier to lift the back. To do this though you need to have partially lifted (about 3") the body first (on jacks) to get the 4x2 over the chassis top rails

Guy's, When I say I'm stripping the car to rebuild I mean everthing out even the sound dead foam (mildew)so thers no filler cap, lights carpets, wiper motor, heater, dash, console, door cards nowt!
To be honest I gave the rear a little lift to see if it would seperate and it came up easy until snaging the fuel tank which simply required a little more effort.
I'm no power lifter but did play rugby union No8 for many years, but again many years ago (best days of my life!)
So next weekend will be 'rent a crowd' and get it done! I hope, time ticks on.

there were 8 of us to lift off body and put it back on again a couple of years ago.
A big help was a 6ft long piece of 4x2". With everything undone, lift the rear of the car slightly and slip the 4x2" under the rear wheel arch, on top of chassis above fuel tank. The rear half of car has to be lifted clear of the suspension mounts before it can slide rearwards to clear the cylinder heads. It's not easy to lift the body that high using the rear arches unless you can manage a weightlifters clean & jerk in unison!
Last thing to check before lift - make sure the speedo is disconnected!

I've got the full width video showing whole of car somewhere if any use to you

Near side, the wires are cable tied to the chassis and run down that side a few inches before the plug connecting it to the car loom, that then goes down that side up and over the top of the box and into the body.
The other one to watch is the clutch pipe, particularly that it goes through a p clip on one of the bellhousing to engine bolts.

Top middle of image are two wires exiting the gearbox. I think topmost one is reverse light switch. Follow the wire down to the blue connectors. The right-hand one joins to speedo transducer (almost at right angles). The transducer is held in place by a forked plate by a half-inch bolt I think. Disconnect the speedo at the bakelite connector, you can just see it hanging below the chassis cross-bar.
Don't suffer like Barkychoc and I did, finding a new one is a real hassle!
