TomTom battery life

Both of my TomToms batterys only last about 5 minutes without being plugged in to the 12v.
One is a Go and the other a one XL.
Is this a normal sign of age?
Can it be done under warrenty or shall i have a crack at it myself?

My TomTom runs out of power faster than the 12v can charge it.

My Tom Tom one cannot be used without it being connected to a power supply. Even after using it in the car for a few hours as soon as the power cord is pulled out the batt light flashes.

You can get a kit on ebay with replacement battery and the screw driver you need.

Mine is about 5 years old, tomtom one xl and lasts about 5 hours off charge.

You can get new ones from eBay for Tom Toms, looks like the just plug in once you get the case open.

Wouldn't bother, I bought one and the battery was gone again within a month!

Mine Go350 (around 5 years old) lasts around 4-5 hours without a charge.......

TomTom XL here, it lasts about an hour without being plugged in
from what I have seen on the TomTom forum it is pretty much the norm

Used to get quite a few back with this problem when I worked for Halfords. If they are faulty they have to be sent off to be repaired not swapped over by the way

very common fault on tomtoms, my 530 battery would last around 5 mins then die. I have a new 550 Live now and the battery goes for at least an hour and a half (the longest i have tested for so far).

When I rang TT about it they said they did not do new batteries (or certainly not cost effectively) and offered me a good deal on a new unit which I took. I kept the old unit, had the battery changed at a shop in Tottenham Court Road, and passed it on to a son. (I read the instructions for changing a battery yourself and decided it was not a job for me).
