Got a couple of these from a farmers market - once out packet they are huge ! Anyway - would you cook these like you would a sirloin or a normal beef ribeye?

Any tips for the perfect buffalo steak ? They are roughly 9oz each.

Cheers

As I understand it you just cook it as you would beef.

How thick are the steaks?

Pretty thick - thicker than a usual steak for me -3/4 of an inch maybe.

I'd be giving them a minute or so either side on a smoking hot griddle pan, then max 2 minutes in a GM5 oven.

One more thing, oil the steak, not the pan!

Enjoy, would like to try buffalo myself. smile

I will - thanks for the advice - I'm not getting to cook them - think the 1664 has something to do with that !!

These were the guys at the farmers market - everything on their stall looked great, if I like it next time I'll get a few things.

The sirloin looks tasty, and its no more expensive than 400g of Sainsburys finest 21 day aged sirloin. May order some up!

I'll let you know what they're like - looks like they deliver everywhere. The stall was very busy when we were there - not much was left.

They were great - hard to describe the difference to beef. We found them slightly milder and creamier - I know that mind sound weird. On a normal beef steak I discard any small fatty bits, with buffalo steaks they were the best bits. Strange I know !

Highly recommend them - off to tuck into a rhubarb crumble bought there.

Support your local farmers - even the veg was better than supermarkets - might be a bit more expensive, but worth it.
