Hello All,

I have a '87 TE. After being winterized for 4 months I tried to start her but no luck. I smell gas in the rear compartment. I have new spark plugs. Any advise on how to get this glorious giant to run again?

Did you hold the spark plug against ground to see if you are getting a spark?

Are the plug cables installed in the correct order?

Hi,

The basics say 'Spark, Fuel, Air'. If you are smelling fuel, it sounds as if the cold start mechanism is malfunctioning. Have you pulled a plug? Is it wet?

If so, be careful turning the engine over to avoid HydroLock.

It's remotely possible that some of your fuses and relays are not working properly. Connectors could have easily corroded during the storage of the car, especially if you removed/disconnected the battery. Pull all fuses, wipe or clean w/ emery cloth and replace. Do the same for the relays in the ignition box. Finally, unplug/clean/replug any/all of the engine bay connectors. Good Luck! Happy Motoring! ...Jim'85TE
