hey guys. my 1300 petrol ford engine (just fitted in) is not sounding too good. first it was the condenser and now i think its the carberetter. the engine front fiers sometimes but will only run on full choke - when no choke, it splutters to a stop. revving it doesnt help either. the carb looks ok, and i have given it a clean and set the float level to the correct level. has anyone else had a similar problem? i am getting a new carb and coil from ian hardwood this week. cheers.

me and my boys had the sme problem building a dutton pheaton using a 1300x-flow mk1. we tried it all and all and then some but never got it to work as a normall engine

we cleaned carb and set the float new, fuel line, new pump it all but we found the problem to be the carb.

you can pick u carb referb kits quiet cheap and they make ur carb run like new.

We got the carb fixed, put 1100cc pistons in upgraded the cooling and it runs like a champ.

Best of luck

It sounds like the carb to me.
Most likely either blocked jets or the accelerator pump diaphram is shot.
Either get a refurb kit and give it a good servicing or get a replacement unit.
