Can anyone tell me the standard spark plug part number for the 4.2 please?

I am away from home and don't have access to my manuals.

NGK BKR5EKU or Champion RC9BMC. I was told that the Champion give a better burn than the NGK's but can suffer from fouling if used on short stop/start journeys. I had mine set up by Joo to run with the Champions and he said the timing would need to be retarded slighty if I reverted to NGK's. The Champions can be hard to get hold of though. Hope this helps.

About to replace the plugs in mine and have picked up a set of Champion RC9BMC for £8 the set.
Not sure what plugs its presently running on but,if its NGK`s at the mo then will the timing need to be advanced slightly to run with the Champions?
Going by the above, that may be the case.
The RC9BMC`s are the equivalent to the BKR5EKU when cross-referenced.
Never aware of having to adjust the timing of an engine when replacing spark plugs with an alternative, but equivalent, make/plug.
Anyone with any thoughts, or indeed anyone changed brands with/without any effect on running.

On Ebay actually.
The particular seller I bought from hasn`t any up at the moment but they were 99p each + p&p, just a couple of weeks ago.
The cheapest on at the mo appear to be £1.25 each - thats a tenner plus p&p.
Just put RC9BMC in the search.

Thanks, just bought a set of RC9MCC for less than a quid each.

I am hoping that they are similar to the RC9BMC, in that they will be less prone to pinking than the NGKs. If not, I'll swap them out, no real loss.

Beware chaps, a mate of mine bought 'Genuine' sparkplugs from eBay for his Range Rover recently. Surprise, surprise, they turned out to be cheap copies which failed spectacularly.
