Misfire?

When i floor the throttle in 3/4th around the 2-4k rpm mark the car is very hesitant. If i drop a gear and floor it, it will pull and pull. again 4th floor it around the 2-4k rpm range and again hesitant / miss fire

Would it be a good idea to check the throttle pot valves, plugs, and leads, or is there something i can go direct to.

Its not too much of a problem as you know that when wanting to overtake for instance that you need to drop a cog before being able to. although would be nice to just floor it and get the response i want.

Agree with Gazzab, sounds exactly the same as I had a while ago..

After a drawn out troubleshooting exercise ( leads,throttle pots, spark plugs etc) found the coils were the root cause. Go for Bosch replacements not the cheap pattern parts.. Take it from me, I learnt the hard way and had to have them replaced shortly after when they failed yet again
Trouble is they sit right in the depth of the V, a nice a toasty harsh enviroment for them!! hence why they are a common failure.

BTW They are not too bad to change out if you do it yourself, as long as you dont mind some back ache and knucle rash

how can you tell if its the bosch part? do have a link to one?

Found the part in tvr power, is there a how to, on changing them, or is it straight forward one your looking at the engine. certainly not scared as i'm an engineer any way, bu a bit of guidance always helps, can't find anything in the workshop manual

It's an easy job, you'll work it out. One tip is to disconnect the injector wiring, gives you a lot more room to get your hands in.

See the alt parts bit on this forum. Suspect that Bosch can be had from german and swede for less cash?

have search german swedish using a citroen zx ZX 1.4/1.6/1.8/2.0 MULTIPOINT INJ @ £26.50 will give them a ring and see if its a bosch part before buying.

That link brings them up at 65 quid each?

I have just bought some (today) from Eurocarparts No: 413545061

35 pound each.

They are ARC though and not Bosch.
